Pre-1950 Dale Forty pianos are basic British pianos. These are usually straight strung overdampers, and therefore tend to have a weak bass and poor cut off (ringing on too long). Most are mahogany traditional style with some black. Modern Chinese Dale Forty pianos are normal overstrung underdampers and not yet rated though thought to be one of the best Chinese pianos
